March into April

Who, when, where, why, how, what events and experiences have transpired this March 2008 to let me be a blessing, blessed, better? What lies ahead in April? Point me in the direction I need to go, guide me, show me the way ~ Hold on tight, take a deep breath and go for it with gusto and guts... so to walk, talk, swim, ride, write, work and play with purpose, into the unknown and known.

Live up to the day to day challenges as well as the minute to minute moments of uncertainty during the course of my day and night... positive, real, fearless and forge-on with purpose blazing trails including an attitude of extreme graititude for those who have blazed trails long before me.

A new month approaches with new opportunites, lessons to learn and memories to make... so much life to live. I say; bring it on, toss it up in the air and see where I land.

GRACE

Happy Easter! "Oh Happy Day!"

GRACE. That word and the meaning of it has been popping up quite a bit lately in my little corner of the world. It's the kind of word that makes one pause and reflect. How do you explain the meaning of GRACE? How do you pray and hope for peace and happiness for everyone, everywhere?

One way of describing Grace is to say it is everything good in the world, in the heavens and beyond. The awesome power, peace and perfection found in God's glory renders Grace and goodness, comfort and satisfaction. The Holy Spirit flies in and out and about constantly pursuing excellence, exuberance, extraordinary experiences. Sometimes subtle whispers of wonder, often fantastic tripping of the light so fantastic. Sensational and Serendipitously ~ soft sweet moments, exhilarating, intoxicating to the soul in such a way that ignites the fading fire within. The alchemy from the flicker, a dim hint of light bursts it's magnificent flame of spellbinding beautiful bright light, shimmery, shiny, sparkly, opaque and translucent, iridescent all at once.
As simple as Grace is, is just as marvelous, magical, life changing and reassuring to understand we have access to this phenomenon then, now and forever. Freed by the light of God's glory, goodness and strength I say it again and again.
Not sure where I saw or heard this but it sure did catch my attention:
Jesus wept, Voltaire smiled. From that devine tear and from that human smile is derived the GRACE of present civilizations. ~ The word is the verb and the verb is God ~

Perspective

I believe it was Victor Hugo who said something like;

Where the telescope ends the microscope begins and who is to say which has the grander view~

I love that question.

Fudgecicles, Milknickles, Comic Books & Growing Pains of Life and Death

Sometimes on hot summer afternoons we'd collect all of our pennies, dimes, nickles, quarters, fifty-cent pieces and occasional dollars...round up our list of drinks and snacks in hot pursuit of Mr and Mrs Bakers candy store down the street, NE corner of Pacific and Walter, nestled at the bottom of the hill, just below the circular catwalk overpass on the Pan American freeway and that oldest brother Gary jumped on to make it shake and scare us.

The snacks and cold drinks included ice cold Grape, Strawberry or Cream Nehi soda, RC Cola, ice cold Coca Cola, Squirt and Canada Dry, the very cool ice cream freezer in the back of the store with the shiny steal doors that laid flat and wildly fun to open and close and home to those great fudgecicles, milknickles, popcicles, push-ups and ice cream sandwiches...just heaven on a hot and sweaty summer day.

The wooden floor smelled rustic and oily, and squeeked when you walked in through the screen door, and the big glass candy counter drew you in like a magnet, well stocked with the best candy in the world. Penny candy, hershey's chocolate kisses/two for a pennny, licorice, jaw breakers, candy bars for a nickle, wax candy and great "Winners" suckers where one could win a free sucker if you got a strip of white paper in the back that said "Winner" on it. On the glass counter top a box full of fluffy glazed-doughnuts on display filled the air with the mouth watering scent of fresh baked goods begging to be bought and eaten on site. The Comic books? Those always seemed to find their way into our hands, providing hours of giggles and grins as The Family Circle, Beetle Baily, Archie, Veronica, Casper, Huckleberry Hound or Alvin and The Chipmonks got in and out of scrapes.

"Where's Boob"? Mr or Mrs Baker inquired if I walked in without Mark and "Where's Sissy?" if Mark went to the store without me. So simple, such a sweet memory.

It's hard to think of the way two old peoples' lives were taken, robbed and killed over a few bucks in their cash box. Mrs Baker armed with only a broom, fighting for her life.
Christmas Eve 1968, a neighborhood kid comes knocking on our door, crying hysterically to tell us what had happenend. It was a shock, reality hit us hard, that Christmas was overshadowed with sadness, It was time to move out of the old neighborhood. Mom knew the simpler times of our lives were fading, people were changing and a new era of life and the unknown approached on the horizon.

Dear Heart

What's going on in your world? I hope this message finds you well. I'm in the mood for retrospection, tanking-up on thoughts, slinging out some concepts and considerations.
What I mean to do this February 23, 2008 and favorite day of any month is just go ahead and throw out a few tid bits of this and that and ofcourse the other thing. Oh the mysteries and marvels, the sorrowful and luminous, the glorious and joyful. What's taking place as this heart and head of mine speak and say it like this:

In opening line of letter to my family, maybe it would read something like the following:

Dear Family,
Where do I start? How 'bout right here? You mean Genesis from the Bible "In the beginning" beginning? ...No, been meaning to put pen to paper, err ahh fingers to font and talk about everything and nothing at all with you, just you... In Henny Youngmen style- "And I wanna tell you"...it's amazing how far we go back, Mom and us kids, we grew up together. How I love and respect you, how you bug me and how I have bugged you and often made you wonder about me as I have wondered about you. How I appreciate all the love and stories of our lives we share, only we can recall and think of endearingly or remember with regret. God Bless you my precious family. How I love you, how I love you.

Always,

me

I read, or heard somewhere something that caught my attention and got me to thinking, you know like a pearl we should pick-up and learn from or is it trample over never the wiser. It's about changing the course of life, a shifting that is taking place, for the good, for the better, a positive vibration. Undeniable. You know if we say so... so it is. Why, Who? Because WE need it, OUR sacred hearts and souls are anemic, bolemic and shriveling-up in search of goodness. How and Where? NOW, yes-Right. Subtle surges of goodness, a passion and quest for peace. Plain and not so simple, significant and necessary...humanity in need of humility, harmony, hope, healing.

Dear God,
You know that song; I just heard it for the first time, I loved it right away. It goes; "Make something beautiful out of all this suffering"...

Sincerely,
me

Dear Mark, (Twin brother)
-Ah yes twins jolly good, totally___well mostly. As of late, have been made aware of more of your blue ribbon variety and specially built, fabricated and created; boy/girl combo twins. Very special indeed. Not everyone is a twin, but then again Everyone is not anyone else. I kind of get some kind of little twitch in my brain and belly when I think of the gut-wrenching laughs we shared, before, often during and after whatever tears or cheers, sad or happy movies, fears, triumphs or tribulations we experienced.

A classic case of right and left brain functioning and tendencies: We, us/our mutualities include music, sports, sass and good cheer. YOU with your favoring and forte in concrete thinking, logistics, statistics, math, architechture, history, geography. Me with my arts, letters, sight, sound, texture, abstract in thinking and problem solving.

A gyroscope and kalidascope of twiness, unique, unusual as we revved up our twin-engines, rattled cages and did it up pretty good in general.

How could I ever forget you.

me

Brownie Music

Well well, look who’s here. Come on in make yourself comfortable it’s gonna be a while. Not exactly sure what the next three hundred and some-odd days will bring but I know for sure in the whole scheme of things; nothing will be constant but change.

I want to post a special invitation to tune in this Saturday, January 12th and the 26th for a few hours worth of some tasty sounding music. It should prove to be a warm spot in an otherwise chilly day.

What will be offered and served-up piping hot and ready to take in is a generous portion of what I refer to endearingly as “Brownie Music”. Music from the wonderful worlds of Bossa Nova, Samba, Nuevo Flamenco, Mariachi, New Mexican and Latin Jazz will be on found on the play list. One can access said play list and listen to the Raices (pronounced righ-ee-ces=Roots) Program at http://www.kunm.org/
“Maria Elena” is always pretty excited and eager to put on the music she loves and loves to share with listeners.

Where: KUNM FM 89.9 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and surrounding cities.
Time: 2:00pm mst through 4:45pm

Until next time.
Stay safe and warm
xo,
Bruno
